कलिकेश नारायण सिंह देव भारतीय राष्ट्रीय राइफल संघ (एनआरएआई) के नये अध्यक्ष बन गए हैं जिन्होंने वी के धाल को शनिवार को यहां हुए चुनाव में 36.21 से हराया। ओडिशा के पूर्व सांसद कलिकेश पिछले साल रनिंदर सिंह के इस्तीफे के बाद से एनआरएआई का दैनंदिनी कामकाज देख रहे थे।
पिछले साल खेल मंत्रालय ने निर्देश जारी किया था कि राष्ट्रीय खेल महासंघों का कोई पदाधिकारी राष्ट्रीय खेल कोड के तहत 12 वर्ष से अधिक समय तक पद पर नहीं रह सकता। इसके बाद रनिंदर ने इस्तीफा दिया था जिनके 12 साल 29 दिसंबर 2022 को पूरे हो गए थे।
पिछले साल अप्रैल में रनिंदर के इस्तीफे के बाद से एनआरएआई का कामकाज इसके वरिष्ठ उपाध्यक्ष कलिकेश देख रहे थे। उनके कार्यवाहक प्रमुख रहते भारत ने पेरिस ओलंपिक में निशानेबाजी में तीन पदक जीते। रियो ओलंपिक 2016 और तोक्यो ओलंपिक 2020 से भारतीय निशानेबाज खाली हाथ लौटे थे। कलिकेश 2025 तक एनआरएआई अध्यक्ष रहेंगे।
