न्यूजीलैंड ने अगले महीने अफगानिस्तान के खिलाफ अगले महीने एक टेस्ट और श्रीलंका के खिलाफ दो मैचों की टेस्ट श्रृंखला के लिये टीम में पांच स्पिनरों को जगह दी है।
अफगानिस्तान के खिलाफ एकमात्र टेस्ट भारत में ग्रेटर नोएडा में नौ से 13 सितंबर तक खेला जायेगा। वहीं श्रीलंका में दो टेस्ट 18 और 26 सितंबर से शुरू होंगे।
अनुभवी तेज गेंदबाज टिम साउदी कप्तान होंगे जबकि टीम में केन विलियमसन, डेवोन कोंवे, ग्लेन फिलिप्स और रचिन रविंद्र जैसे खिलाड़ी भी हैं।
कोच गैरी स्टीड ने कहा ,‘‘उपमहाद्वीप के टेस्ट दौरे के लिये कठिन फैसले लेने पड़ सकते हैं। उमस और गर्मी के अलावा पिचों को देखते हुए तेज गेंदबाजों को बाहर रहना पड़ सकता है।’’
उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘टिम और मैने इस पर बात की है और तेज गेंदबाजों के कार्यभार प्रबंधन के लिये भी यह जरूरी है जिसमें टिम भी शामिल है।’’
स्पिन हरफनमौला मिचेल ब्रासवेल चोट के बाद 18 महीने बाद वापसी कर रहे हैं। उनके साथ मिचेल सेंटनेर, ऐजाज पटेल, ग्लेन फिलिप्स और रविंद्र स्पिन का जिम्मा संभालेंगे।
